This was initially going to be a trip to Elachee Nature Center but due to the recent flooding and threat of more rain we decided to take advantage of a rare opportunity - The CDCs Global Health Odyssey museum was open on a Saturday. We met at the club at 9 am and had seven new girls to start off the year. In addition to the leader, Eddas Bennet, and co-leader, Gwen Bergen, we had two new volunteers, Al Merrill and Lisa Steinfeld. We headed off to the museum where everyone got to learn about fighting diseases such as tuberculosis and smallpox. The girls also had an opportunity to try on the special suits from the highcontamination labs. We then walked over to Lullwater Park where we hiked down to the lake to look at ducks and climb trees. Then it was off to Piccadelli for lunch. Just as we headed home the torrents of rain started so it was a perfectly timed trip.
