OUTING HIGHLIGHTS: The students found creative ways in order
to entertain themselves. They used the environment around them to play
many games. We had brought 4 bicycles and a pair of roller blades so students
were able to take turns riding the bikes around the campsite. We were able
to take several hikes to different locals within the park, including an area
where 5 rivers meet. There was also a mild rain storm on the last evening.
The kids were a little scared at first, but ended up really enjoying the
sound of rain on the tents.
OUTING SUGGESTIONS: The burning ban in many parks
around the state, including Elk Neck, kept us from having a campfire. We
had checked this ahead of time, so had purchased additional propane to compensate
for the cooking we were unable to do over the fire. We were sure to
dry the tents out thoroughly before packing them up the following day.
